How to Get to The Potala Palace from Lhasa City
This article is about the transportation between the Potala Palace and Lhasa. The Potala Palace is a dzong fortress in the city of Lhasa, in China’s Tibet Autonomous Region. It was the winter palace of the Dalai Lamas from 1649 to 1959, has been a museum since then, and is a World Heritage Site since 1994.
How to Get to The Potala Palace from Lhasa City?
By Bus
There are two lines to take the bus to Potala Palace from Lhasa city.
- Take No. 8, No.13, or No.17 to Baita Bus Stop and then walk east for 5 mins to the ticket office.
- Take No.2, No.6, No.7, No.14, No.16, No.25, or No.26 Bus to Lazhong Bus Stop and then walk southeast for 10 mins to the ticket office.
By Taxi
You can chose to take taxi. The starting price is CNY 10 for three kilometers. After three kilometers, it will increase by CNY 2 per kilometer.
By Tricycle
The best way to experience life in Lhasa is by tricycle. Price need to negotiate with driver. You can spend CNY 5 to experience, then walk to the potala Palace.
