Shigatse Transportation- By Trains

Shigatse is considered the second traffic center of Tibet after Lhasa. Shigatse railway station was officially opened on August 15, 2014. Lhasa is only three hours away by train from Shigatse. The railway from Shigatse to Gyirong port and the railway from Shigatse to Yadong port are expected to start construction after the Lhasa-Shigatse railway. According to the national plan, the Lhasa-Shigatse railway will be connected with the Qinghai-Tibet railway in the north, the railway from Shigatse to Nyalam, Shigatse to Gyirong and Shigatse to Yadong in the south, and the international railway passage to Nepal and India will also be formed on this basis.

Shigatse Railway Station

Shigatse Railway Station, located in Samzhubze District of Shigatse City, is the terminal of Lhasa-Shigatse Railway and the largest station along the Lhasa-Shigatse railway. It is 253 km from Lhasa Raiwlay Station, is under the jurisdiction of Qinghai-Tibet Railway. In the future, it will also be the starting point of the Shigatse-Yadong Railway. The station officially opened on August 15, 2014, with 3 trains entering and leaving every day.
