Xining railway station (simplified Chinese: 西宁站; traditional Chinese: 西寧站; pinyin: Xīníng Zhàn) is the main railway station serving the city of Xining in Qinghai, China. It is the first station on the Qinghai–Tibet Railway which connects the city with Lhasa in Tibet.

Xining West Railway Station is located Dapuzi Township of Chengbei District in Xining, Qinghai Province. It is 12 km from Xining Railway Station, 802 km from Golmud Railway Station. It was built in 1960.

Development

At March 2nd, 2011, a new West Railway Station completed its renovation and extension, and began to welcome passengers.

Now, Xining West Railway Station is just a station of transition. For built it into a economical, suitable for use and peaceful railway station, the government had invested 140 million RMB in total. The passenger area is 5999.4 square meters. The waiting room covers an area of 3886 square meters, which is lager than 2 waiting rooms of Xining Railway Station. The VIP waiting room is 135.7 square meters.

Facilities of Xining West Railway Station

The ticket windows are with striking blue indication above them. The No.1 and No.2 ticket window are different from others. They do not have metal fence and they are barrier-free windows for disabled passengers to purchase ticket. The No. 3 window is Ticket Returns and Refunds Window. The No. 4 Ticket Window is selling the ticket of the same day. No.5 Ticket Window is the special window handling transfer and railway staff’s business travel. No. 6 to 8 windows are selling remote tickets and round-trip tickets. Other windows sells ticket to all over the countries. The railway station has waiting room, ticket office, VIP rooms, soft seat waiting room, maternal and child waiting room, radio room, information desk, vending service area, police duty room and other service zones. There are guide service for passengers at night.

The station yard added 5 arrival-departure tracks. It has 3 platform. The newly built Signal House has new automatic block, computer monitoring, integrated lightning protection and other signaling devices.
