Xian – Qamdo Flights
Once known as Chang’an (Eternal Peace), Xian marks the Silk Road’s eastern end and was home to the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties’ ruling houses. At archaeological sites in Xi’an’s surrounding plains are the famed Bingmayong (Terra Cotta Army), thousands of life-size, hand-molded figures buried with China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang. Qamdo is located in the key link of the boundary among Tibet, Sichuan, Qinghai and Yunnan. In ancient time, it is the important stop of Tea Horse Route and famed as the ‘Pearl of Tibet‘ due to its pivot position on Tibetan commerce and trade.
There is only one daily flight flying from Chongqing to Chamdo operated by Tibet Airlines and it takes about 2 hours. Chamdo Bangda Airport, a civilian airport, also called Qamdo Bamda Airport, was formerly the highest airport in the world. Below is the detailed flight schedule.
