About Tongka Monastery in Baxoi County, Chamdo
Tongka Monastery is located in Tongka Village of Baxoi County, 250 kilometers away from county seat. It was built by Baluo Jiangcunshengge(洛巴·江村生格) in 1473. Tongka Monastery has made outstanding contributions to the reunification of the motherland, national solidarity and the cultural exchange between the Tibetan and the Han. Tongka Monastery has collected a large number of statues, embroidery, tapestry, silk, brocade and other varieties, especially the cymbal which has two dragons frolicking with a pearl pattern(双龙戏珠铜钹) is extremely precious cultural relic. In the hall of Tongka Monastery, there are pagodas for the seventh and eleventh living Buddhas.
About 500 meters from the monastery, there is a Buddhist pagoda called Zepei Rengboqie(泽培仁波且). It is square shaped and 36 meters in width and 25 meters high. This pagoda has six layers, and the actual interior is only three layers. It is imposing and majestic. There are all kinds of Buddhas for visitors to appreciate. It is one of the tallest pagodas in Changdu.

Visitors can take long-distance bus or choose self-driving. Please pay attention to weather conditions. In the rainy season (July & August), cars often get struck in the mud and delays happen frequently.
