Shuanghu in Tibetan language means double lakes. Shuanghu No Man Land is located in Shuanghu County, Nagqu. In the northwest of Shuanghu No Man Land is Kekexili unpopulated area. With an average altitude of 5000 meters, it covers an area of 600,000 square kilometers. In addition to high mountains, lakes, grasslands and wild animals, it is almost deserted. The site’s geographical and climatic conditions have nurtured a unique biodiversity. More than one third of the plant species, and all the herbivorous mammals are endemic to the plateau. The property secures the complete migratory route of the Tibetan antelope, one of the endangered large mammals that are endemic to the plateau.
