Since 2009, minority ethnic village work extensively developed, and a large number of villages with characteristics of ethnic minorities have emerged, featuring strong industrial support, strong ethnic culture, beautiful living environment and harmonious ethnic relations. Remarkable achievements have been made in protecting the traditional dwellings of ethnic minorities, carrying forward the excellent culture of ethnic minorities, cultivating industries with local characteristics and advantages, carrying out ethnic tourism, improving people’s living conditions, increasing people’s income and consolidating ethnic unity. In order to better promote the protection and development of ethnic minority villages, recommended by local people’s committees, published by experts and approved by the national people’s commission, 340 villages including Doudian Village of Fangshan District in Beijing, were listed as the first batch of “ethnic minority villages with Chinese characteristics”.
