Located at the south-west of Tibet, Gyirong County is a small county located near the border between China and Nepal. It is the gateway of Tibet and Nepal. Its climate can divide into two parts. The north region of Gyirong County is semiarid plateau monsoon climate and valley monsoon climate zone, which is a juncture between the cold and warm weather in Southern Tibet. The annual average temperature is 2℃. The warmest month average temperature gap between 10℃to 18℃ degrees Celsius, while the coldest is 10℃. The annual rainfall is 300 to 600 mm, which belongs to semiarid continental climate zone. While the southern region of Gyirong County is subtropical monsoon climate, the annual average temperature gap between 10 to 13℃ and the warmest month temperature are above 18℃. The annual rainfall is 1000 mm and annual frost free days in 200 days or more.

Best Time to Visit 

The best time to visit Gyirong county of Shigatse is during the summer months from June to September. Though comfortable all year long, the place is full of natural beauty during this time.
