About Boluo Guze
Boluo Guze(波罗古泽)is located in Boluo Township(波罗乡), Jomda County(江达县), Chamdo Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region, which is on the both sides of Zhaqu River of Jinsha River(金沙江), about 50 kilometers away from the county seat. There are green mountains, green water, big forest area with a variety of species, especially the birch that has the carving board and some other rare tree species here. According to the investigation, there are 152 skilled artistes in Boluo region(波罗一带). It is now hidden in the board of the dege(德格), which is mainly the work of Boluo Guze and ancient people. Not only can the burghers carve out kangyur(甘珠尔经), but they can also carve the difficult wind flag and a figure of Buddha. The area is engraved with long history of engraving, skilled staff and high carving skill, which is rare in the other places in Tibet, known as the veritable “woodcut land”.

The transportation in Jomda is convenient. You can take the train from Lhasa to Shigatse City. From here, you can take the bus tour of Jomda County.
