Jiajia Town (加加镇) is located in Saga County (萨嘎县), in the Shigatse (日喀则市) region of the Tibet Autonomous Region (西藏自治区). Jiajia Town is located in the eastern part of Saga County, making it the political and economic center of the county. The town is bordered by Changguo Township (昌果乡) to the east, Dajiling Township (达吉岭乡) to the west, Danga Township (旦嘎乡) to the south, and Rujiao Township (如角乡) to the north. The Yarlung Tsangpo River (雅鲁藏布江), a major tributary of the Brahmaputra, flows through the region, creating a picturesque river valley landscape.

History

Historical Development

The name Jiajia is derived from the Tibetan word for “grayish-white” (灰白色). The town was initially known as Jabu (加布). It became a township in 1964, transitioned to a commune in 1970, and reverted to a township in 1982. In 1988, Laga Township (拉嘎乡) was merged into Jiajia, and it was eventually renamed Jiajia Town.

Rural Revitalization Projects

Additionally, the rate of migrant workers (农牧民转移就业) increased by 12 percentage points, while the rate of safety production accidents decreased by 45%.

The town’s livestock inventory accounts for 18% of the total livestock in the county, making it a key player in the regional agricultural economy.
