Lhasa to Shigatse Transportation

This article introduces the transportation between Shigatse and Lhasa. Shigatse, officially known as Xigazê, is a prefecture-level city of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, with an area of 182,000 km2 (70,271 sq mi). It is located within the historical Tsang province of Tibet.

How to Get to Shigatse from Lhasa?

By Train

There are two daily direct trains from Lhasa to Shigatse. And there are also two transit trains, mainly transferring in Quxu County. The trains pass through three railway stations on the way, stopover time is 2 minutes each railway station. The whole journey is about 3 hours, and the price ranges from 40.5 yuan(hard seat) to 169.5 yuan(soft sleeper).

By Coach

There are many coach from Lhasa to Shigaze. Lhasa Xijiao Coach Station usually run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The price of minibuses is different. Buses cost 38 yuan per person, cars or SUV cost 60-80 yuan.

By Private Car Rental

At now, there are no direct coach running from Lhasa to Shigatse. You can chose to get there by private car rental. The whole distance is about 334.6 km. You might spending around 5 hours for driving.
