Modern education has improved quality of life for families in Southwest China’s Tibet autonomous region.

More than 98 percent of the region’s college graduates found jobs last year, and dropouts have been eradicated for the first time according to Qizhala, chairman of the regional government. The chair shared this information in a government work report delivered Tuesday at the People’s Congress of Tibet autonomous region.

In 2019, the region continued to improve employment policies and services, and more than 23,000 graduates found jobs.

According to the government work report, more than 66 percent of the region’s administrative villages or committees have bilingual kindergartens in 2019.

In 2020, the region has vowed to provide more than 60,000 job positions for university graduates, and the employment rate should not fall below 90 percent.

The gross enrollment rate for high school is expected to hit 90 percent this year, and the average education subsidy will be raised from 3,720 to 4,200 yuan.
