Gangqin Monastery is 45 kilometers from Shigaze city and 3,800 meters above sea level. It was built in 1447, presided over by Sambuzasi(桑布扎西) which is a Gelu sect(格鲁派) monastery. There were eight halls, one grand hall, two Zhacang(扎仓) and five Miamura(弥村). Inside the grand hall is a pagoda of Sambuzasi(桑布扎西) , mainly placed the Buddha of the Master Tsongkhapa(宗喀巴师徒三尊) as well as Sambuzasi(桑布扎西). 50 meters away from the monastery there is a lake, named Guanxiang Lake(观相湖), it was said that Sambuzasi(桑布扎西) dug out this lake with a stick, viewing the lake you can see the future of yours.
Attraction Transportation:
We can take a shuttle bus from Shigatse to Sa’gya County, then transfer a local mini van to Gangqin Monastery.
