Nepal (Kathmandu) to Tibet Transportation

Kathmandu is the capital city and largest city of Nepal, which is the gateway to the Nepalese Himalayas, and home to seven world heritage sites: the Durbar Squares of Hanuman Dhoka, Patan and Bhaktapur; the Stupas of Swayambhunath and Baudhanath; and the temples of Pashupati and Changu Narayan. It can only be connected with Lhasa by flight. At the altitude of 3,658 meters, Lhasa is the holy land of Tibetan Buddhism, also famed as ‘the Sunshine City’ for its annual sunshine time. It is famous for Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Norbulingka, etc.

There is only one direct flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa every day operated by Sichuan Airlines (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) and Air China(Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), which takes about 1.5 hours. The overland route from Kathmandu to Tibet is not available now due to Nepal Earthquake. So you can take the flight to Tibet only.

2.Tibet travel permit is required for entering Lhasa and travelling around Tibet, make sure you got the permit before you check in to your flight, or you will not be allowed to board the plane. If you don’t have the permit, we could offer the service include the permit application,  flight booking and Tibet tour arrangement.
3. Lhasa is faster 2 hours and 15 minutes than Kathmandu due to the time different, the duration is calculated according to the actual flight time.
