Sangdan Qiangjiu Monastery, in Tibetan language Sangdan(桑丹) is mean to focus on a situation, and the heart is determined; while Qiangjiu(强久) means Bodhi(菩提), the whole meaning is to show the consciousness of Buddhist truth. The Monastery belongs to Geju sect(噶举教派), founded by Kangba pilgrim, Lama Luosangluobu(洛桑罗布), located at the foot of the mountain Longgeer(隆格尔山). Sangdan Qiangjiu Monastery has a history of four hundred years, mainly placed Master Padmasambhava(莲花生大师).
The Current Scale:
The main hall is made up of two houses, the front room is dedicated to the temple of Master Padmasambhava; In the back room, there was placed the founder of Buddhism, Sakyamuni, and other gods Kangyur(甘珠尔), Tengyur(丹珠尔). On the right side, there is also a hall, which is for the Auspicious Mother(吉祥天母) and the Guardian God(护法神).
Attraction Transportation:
We can take a shuttle bus from Shigatse to Zhongba County, then transfer a local mini bus to Sangdan Qiangjiu Monastery.
