About The Historic Site of Camuka Battlefiled in Gyirong County, Shigatse
 
The Historic Site of Camuka Battlefiled is located in Camuka Valley(擦木卡沟), Gyirong County. The ancient battlefield consists of a series of complete fortifications, including guards, individual bunkers, concealment and so on. It is a site of striking back avoid Guo Erka invaders(郭尔喀侵略者) in Qing dynasty. 3,450 m above sea level, the ancient battlefield was built according to the trend of terrain and the north part is well-preserved now. This site is an important strategic position. Its left part is abyss and right is near the cliffs. After Qing army captured the Camu(擦木), they built this temporary defensive position in order to avoid enemy’s counterattack. In the anti aggression war, it played an important role in consolidating victories and winning victories.  The Historic Site of Camuka Battlefiled also had important historical significance in Tibet history.
