Xiongru Township (雄如乡) is located in Saga County (萨嘎县), Shigatse (日喀则市), Tibet Autonomous Region (西藏自治区), China. Situated in the western-central part of the county, Xiongru is a primarily pastoral region with a rich cultural and natural heritage.

History and Development
Established in August 1962, Xiongru Township is known for its pastoral economy, with the region focusing on the breeding of yak, sheep, goats, and horses. The township consists of six administrative villages: Buzha, Zikang, Tangtu, Zhuobabu, Gakang, and Maya.
The township government is based in Gakang Village (嘎康村), which is approximately 50 kilometers from the county seat. The area is predominantly engaged in animal husbandry, making it a key part of the local pastoral economy.
Economy and Infrastructure
In 2024, Xiongru Township implemented a grassroots leadership initiative (基层党建) aimed at improving local livelihoods through labor export, with over 870 individuals involved in skill training programs, such as chef and excavator operator training. The initiative is expected to generate a revenue of over 8 million RMB.
Additionally, the township has built a comprehensive transportation service station, including a bus station of 222.62 square meters. This infrastructure project, costing 1.12 million RMB, aims to improve local transportation, with a construction period of 3 months.

Ecological Protection Demonstration Area
Xiongru is recognized as an important ecological protection area in Tibet. In 2024, a clean-up initiative was organized, where local ecological staff collected 3 tons of white garbage to protect the local grasslands and wetlands. The area is dedicated to maintaining the region’s fragile environment and promoting sustainable tourism practices.
Zhuobabu Village Cultural Experience
Zhuobabu Village (卓巴布村) offers visitors the opportunity to experience Tibetan-Han cultural exchange. The village regularly holds language classes in Mandarin to promote bilingual communication and cultural integration. These sessions are conducted using innovative teaching methods, including one-on-one and online+offline models.
Transportation and Routes
Road Development
A key development project for Xiongru Township is the construction of the S303 Road, which connects the Chakou to Muge Lalong (亩格拉冯上). The 6.039-kilometer road, scheduled for completion in 2023, will improve access to the township and surrounding areas.
Public Transport
Buses run regularly from Saga County to Xiongru Township (to Jianba Xia Village), with 11 scheduled trips per week. Departures are at 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM daily, with no service on Sundays.
