About Jirong Valley Scenic Area
Jirong Valley scenic area(吉荣峡谷风景区)is located in Tongpu Township(同普乡), Jomda County(江达县), Chamdo Prefecture(昌都市), Tibet Autonomous Region, 20 kilometers from the county seat. The canyon is 10 kilometers long and is connected to No. 317 national highway. The canyon is three kilometers deep and one kilometer wide, and the two sides of the canyon, south and north, stand up to eight walls up to 200 meters high. At the bottom of the valley, looking up, visitors can see the sky, the view of a few bald peaks straight to the sky, its potential shock and awe; Clouds go around the mountains, making people feel like wandering in a fairyland. The valley is surrounded by hundreds of scenery, wild apricots, wild peach flowers on the bank and dense thickets, picturesque scenery; the bold Tibetan Buddhist sutras on both sides of the canyon are displayed in front of them, and the font is vigorous and powerful, and it has been corroded by the sun for hundreds of years. Hidden in the mountainside, there is the hidden treasured cave where is the touching folk tales of King Gesar(格萨王)and his Princess Concort Zhumu(王妃珠姆).
Jirong Valley is an auspicious place for the local people. It’s said that Manjusri Bodhisattva(文殊菩萨)had used the sword of wisdom to give the consecration of the valley, which made a praying sound of flowing water. In this way, there is famous as “the divine place for the elite people”. The carving technology of the Boluo Township(波罗乡)is known as the hometown of the famous wood carving.
