About Duoba Lake
The surface of Duoba Lake is about 5,000 meters above the sea level and it is one of the few glacial lakes in Bainang County. Because it is a plateau lake, the water is shallow in winter. The lake covered with a thin layer of ice, and because of the high altitude and strong sunshine, the white salt dissolved out. Due to the different shades of the lake, the quality of salt is presenting much different, after a strong light, the salt reflecting as colorful pearls, with an impressive, indescribable beauty. There are swans, water eagles, water doves, gulls, and wild geese that inhabited on the banks of the lake, making the lake a vibrant and divine place. It was said that, a landowner of Gyangzê County found a place to raise cattle and sheep, and finally he found the lake of Duoba, which became the original form of Duoba Village today.
Festivals around Duoba Lake
Due to the wide area of the lake, the scenery is quite beautiful, the lake is regarded as the Lake of Heaven(天湖), and the large festivals are held around the lake. The activity mainly is the annual festival “Duixi Qiajie(堆喜恰杰)”, which means “Siji Huange(四季欢歌)”, which is held every October.

We can take a shuttle bus from Shigatse to Bainang County, then transfer a local mini bus to Duoba Lake.
