About Gongbazi Temple
Gongbazi temple is located in Cona County, Shannan, lying on the hillside of Xiari Village(夏日村), about 1km from the county seat with an elevation of 4,360 meters. The temple was built in 1420. The founder is a Menba, Danbajiacuo(门巴族-丹巴嘉措), and inherited total 15 generations.
Building construction
The original construction area of Gongbazi temple was 18000 square meters, which was a large scale. The buildings were stretched from the south to the north by the mountain, with tall courtyard walls on the periphery and stacked in stone. The main body of the temple consists of three groups of buildings from south to north. The first group consists of the vestibule(前庭), Qukang(曲康), and Rongkang(绒康). The second group is adjacent to the north side of the vestibule, consisting of Dukang(杜康), Gongkang(贡康) and Lamu(拉姆) on both sides. The third group is located at the northern tip of the monastery, consisting of the scripture hall(经堂), Zhuokang(卓康) and the ancillary buildings.
