How to Get to Zhangmu from Kathmandu

This article is about the transportation between Zhangmu and Kathmandu. Zhangmu (also from Tibetan as Dram or Zham, from Nepali as Khasa) is a customs town and port of entry located in Nyalam County on the Nepal-China border, just uphill and across the Bhote Koshi River from the Nepalese town of Kodari. At 2,300 metres (7,500 ft) above sea level, Zhangmu has mild and humid subtropical climate, which is a rarity for Tibet.

How to Get to Zhangmu from Kathmandu?

There are two ways to get to Zhangmu from Kathmandu which is by local coach  or riding.

By Local Coach

There are many local coach departing from Kathmandu to Zhangmu. It costs about 600 rupees. The whole distance is about 120 km.

By Riding

It is a famous route to riding between Zhangmu and Kathmandu. The routes is like this: Zhangmu Town, Friendship bridge, and Kathmandu. The whole distance is about 120 km. Please be noted that tourist can pass the Zhangmu Port after 10:00 a.m. You might need to wait 1-2 hours.

By Local Coach

After passing the Zhangmu Port, there are many coaches departing from the port to Kathmandu.

By Riding

Tourists can ride from Zhuangmu to Kathmandu as the same way.
