G6 Beijing- Lhasa Expressway
The Beijing-Lhasa expressway is an expressway connecting Beijing and Lhasa, Tibet. The Beijing-Tibet expressway is a radial expressway of the capital, starting from Beijing and ending in Lhasa, Tibet autonomous region. It passes through Beijing, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Gansu, Qinghai and Tibet, with a total length of 3,718 kilometers. The expressway is an important part of the national expressway network.
Route: The North Third Ring Road of Beijing- Zhangjiakou– Jining– Hohhot– Baotou– Bayannur– Wuhai– Yinchuan– Zhongning– Baiyin– Lanzhou– Xining– Golmud– Naqu– Lhasa.

Lhasa Airport Expressway
Lhasa airport expressway or the freeway from Lhasa city to Gonggar airport is the first expressway in Tibet. The airport freeway construction was started on April 28, 2009, and the 37.8 kilometers route engineering fully invested 1.59 billion yuan by the country. The journey time from the downtown of Lhasa to Gonggar airport was shortened by half an hour, and the highway mileage was effectively shortened by 20 kilometers. On July 17, 2011, the airport expressway opened to traffic.
Expressway from Lhasa to Nyingchi
In May 2013, the construction of Lalin high-grade highway section of 318 National highway from Nyingchi to Gongbo’gyamda County and Maizhokunggar County to Lhasa was started according to the principle of one-time design, approval and staged implementation of the whole line. The expressway from Lhasa to Nyingchi has been fully opened in 2016. The Lhasa section of Lalin high-grade highway starts from the east of Maizhokunggar County, passes through the couny seat of Maizhokunggar County, Zhangduo Township, Tajie Township, Dagze District and Caigongtang Township, and ends at the southern end of Najin bridge. The route is 63.918 kilometers long. After completion of the project, the passage time between Lhasa and Nyingchi is saved at least 3 hours. Its completion and opening to traffic constitutes a part of the sichuan-Tibet high-grade highway and the Yunnan-Tibet high-grade highway.
