About Seqing Monastery
Seqing Monastery – the whole name is called Geju’e Dongquguolin(噶举峨东曲果林), belonging to Geju sect(噶举教派), with the meaning of Buddhism Land(佛学之地). It is located at the waist of mountain Gewayaji(格瓦亚吉) in Seqing Village(色庆村) of Pianji(偏吉乡) Township, Zhongba County. The local herdsmen are used to calling it as Seqing Monastery. There are numerous peaks, and looking from a distance, the mountains are very much like the Buddhist monk in the Monastery, with a boundless Buddhist force, which symbolizes the potential of the Buddhist development of the Monastery.

Celestial Burial Platform(天葬台)
There is a celestial burial platform(天葬台) at the top of the mountain Zuo(座山). It is called the “duogewa(朵格瓦)”. It is said that two thousand years ago, when Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism, was in the world, a stone with naturally formed Tibetan character “Ge(格)” (happy meaning) flew to this place from the Siwacai(斯瓦财天葬台) in India, then creating “duogewa(朵格瓦)” celestial burial platform. During the Great Cultural Revolution, half of the stone was destroyed, just leaving the other half, hence the mountain and the celestial burial table got the name. For now, we can see funerals rarely at this place for the different reasons, but the Lamas in the monastery said that the dead man would regain the power of a valuable life if the dead body were delivered to the burial platform.

The sunshine of reform and opening up is full of all aspects in Tibet, the fruit of religious freedom is full of the Tibetan land, and Seqing Monastery is under repair. The hall of this monastery is made up of two houses. The front house is the Lama memorial hall(喇嘛念经堂). In the middle of the other house is mainly placed the Buddha Sakyamuni, Master Padmasambhava(莲花生大师), Jin Gangyong shi(金刚勇识), Jinggang Buddha(金刚持佛) lying on the both sides. On the right side of the hall, there is a lotus master hall(莲花生大师殿), which is dedicated to the lotus master, with the Karmapa(噶玛巴), Sakyamuni(释迦牟尼) and the mirabanbaa disciple Dabarra(米拉热巴弟子达波拉结) on both sides.

Attraction Transportation:
We can take a shuttle bus from Shigatse to Zhongba County, then transfer a local mini bus to Seqing Monastery.
